Super Monty
This sweet baby started being super imaginative. It's an awesome thing to watch him use words and information he's learned to create his own interpretation of a situation. He has a great sense of humor -- at least he cracks me up. This is him in his superhero threads.

1st Birthday Party
On Saturday our family and friends gathered at the park to celebrate Grant's first birthday. Here is Grant with his bubble lawnmower he received from the Emmertsons - his favorite Alabama cousins. He loves to motor around.
Party Time!!The King musing about the events of the day.
New Strider running bike! He'll be crusin' the trails in no time.
Yummy Birthday cake! (Also fun to squish in hands.)
Our family portrait. Almost seems like we are at the beach! All in all it was a slammin' Luau birthday party!

Ever had an idea that seemed great until you said it out loud?
After some planning and though concerning GMC's first Birthday party I concluded to have a Luau party at the park. Since this is my first time planning a one-year olds birthday party I have considered many different possibilities for the event.
Tonight I had, what I thought to be a genius idea, concerning entertainment. I asked my sister if she knew anyone who could Hula dance. "Well...I'm sure I do..maybe Trish. But Amanda that's weird" she responded. We both burst out laughing! It was just one of those ideas that seemed great until I said it out loud. Next year, balloon animals.

Pointer Fingers
Grant spends a majority of his day pointing at things. He points at lights, cars, the kitty, people at the grocery store, paintings, vases, crystals and more. We went to the zoo last week and Grant was really impressed with the elephants. So much that he gave them the double "gunslinger" point.
CARS II
Grant loves his toy cars and trucks. He can hear a car coming a street away with his supersonic baby hearing and loves to imitate the sound of an engine. Little man has a motor in him.
Today a neighbor of Kim and Randy's stopped to say hello and Grant pointed to the man in the car and razzberried the car noise. The neighbor laughed and revved the engine to his BMW. "Vrroom Vrroom!" Grant was startled and nearly jumped out my arms but then began pointing and vrroom vrroomin' again.
Attached is a video of Grant playing with his car. He's been crawling for about 2 months but recently really started to move.

On the Greens
Saturday and Sunday we went golfing as a family at the Municipal golf course. It's pre-season golf so you best wear your hiking boots and bundle up but it's free! Grant enjoyed strolling along with dad as he played a few holes and helped get a read on his puts. This was the first family activity that I know we will enjoy for our entire lifetimes.

Hogle Zoo
Today we went to the Hogle Zoo. It was an exciting visit for all of us in that it was Grant's first zoo visit. He enjoyed looking at the animals but he seemed to be more intrigued by the people. The highlight of the day was the "small animal building" where there was a small aviary with all kinds of birds flying above and gigantic tortoises stood below. Amongst all the other babies at the zoo, there were two special ones each younger than Grant a baby giraffe and elephant.

Grant Stands
Grant is developing new skills every day. In the past two weeks he began to pull himself up on his crib and other furniture and standing tall. This pic of him in his crib was taken before we dropped it to the lowest level. Also, this last Tuesday he woke up babbling. He's been vocal before, but this was a new level of "da da da ba ba ba" and razz'in.

1st 1/2 of February
Grant and I had a fun day making Valentines at Aunt Heather's house. Grant is a real artist and used his feet and fingers to make beautiful cards for his loved ones.Grant is getting SO BIG! Last week we went grocery shopping and for the first time in months I had lots of room in the cart for my groceries. He was busy looking around and eyeing the other shoppers; I enjoyed tickling his cute toes!
It's great to have a BOSS in my life. He's always doing things to make me smile.

Baby Update
January has came and gone is a flash! I thought I'd give an update on everyone's favorite boy. Grant is almost crawling...he crawls like a pimp walks, but he keeps his head up. I'm having so much fun going with him to Kindermusic each week where he plays instruments and sing tunes with other babies his age. And I'm losing count of the number of people who tell me that his smile makes their day. He makes his father's and my life so joyous.

Walkin in a Winter Wonderland
The Grandparents Gaither got Grant this awesome Black Diamond snowsuit. It keeps him warm and snuggly just like a chuckroast. In the carrier he got for Christmas,we went walking Sunday afternoon along the rail trial. It was a beautiful sunny day and although quite bright, Grant took in all the scenery. He loved to watch the birds in the trees.
