This Christmas was the best yet! Having Grant around makes everything more fun. He was really getting into opening presents and enjoys all of his new toys. In the picture on the right is his Inchworm who measured him today at 29". He is getting bigger each day and is sitting up and grabbing. Gone are the days where he just kick-kicks his legs; he now roles and scoots.
Josh is working super full-time because this is the money making season. So we have wonderful mornings together as a family. Christmas morning was obviously quite special. I hope all my dear family and friends are having happy holidays too!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

The Blessing

This past Sunday we had our family and friends over to our home for a baby welcoming ceremony. It was a special day filled with lots of snow and lots of spirit. The Reverend Carruthers MC'd, Josh gave Grant a blessing and Amanda sang a song. Grant knew it was his special day and was smiling with his guests. We are so fortunate to have Grant Montgomery Cowart in our lives and are blessed by his handsome hart.

Bee Time, Love and Hate
Grant's favorite toy is his Buzzer Bee. Over the past week he's been developing his hand/eye coordination. Today, he was showing off by holding his bee with both hands. He also likes to kick his legs, so as he dropped the bee, he would kick it out of excitement.
Grant's Best Belly Laugh
Grant loves to play with his soccer ball. Josh was teaching him how to catch...well, throwing the ball at him and Grant burst into laughter like we've never heard before. His big belly laugh brought us so much joy. We hope you enjoy too.

Cherokee Thought of the Day
Anytime we fall down in doing anything and we get up and have another go at it, count it all progress. It is getting up that makes a warrior, di tli hi, as the Cherokee says it. Getting up doesn't mean the warrior is fearless or that he is totally self-confident. It does mean that he gains confidence as he persistently keeps trying, and he fully expects strength to come as he needs it. He asks, na quu na? How about now? Everyone is afraid of a challenge, afraid of being down and staying down. But relying on the Great Spirit gives the courage to speak powerful words to bolster the human spirit. So, how about now?
I know the Great Spirit is looking down upon me from above, and will hear what I say. -Sitting Bull
Grant Montgomery Cowart

We are pleased to announce the birth of our son, Grant Montgomery Cowart, on July 20, 2009 at 4:37 a.m. weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 oz. He is the pride and joy of both his father and myself and is a fun, mellow baby boy to have in our home. This first-time parenting thing is exhausting but each day that passes is rewarding and blessed. It has been two weeks since the his birthday and life has changed but not as much as we expected. He loves to suck on his hands, enjoys car rides and walks in his stroller.

Cherokee Thought of the Day
Ideas are like eggs in an incubator. They must be kept warm and protected until they have grown enough to hatch. Our nee to go wo ni ha, talk on and on, can do away with a promising situation before it has ever had time to take form. Left to develop, it may have been a great blessing to many -- but tampering with it in our belief that we can do anything and say anything aborts it. There is time to speak and a time to keep silent, but it takes wisdom to know the time. Most things can only stand one telling, and it had better be where it stands a chance to survive. Until that time, don't talk, don't count.

Mother Lover
It was an exciting Mother's Day because our family added a mother-to-be to the ranks. In the past, I've celebrated my wonderful mothers and grandmothers while at the same time celebrating my non-motherness (any reason to party). However, this year I was able to embrace the my inner mother and show off my growing baby bump. We BBQ's with Kimmi and Granny and delivered this painting to Merry. It was great to see all the family.
The Desert in May
This May we traveled to Mesquite NV. While there we went boating on Lake Mead with the pirates, "Nervous Wreck" Kimmi and "Engines Up" Randy. By the end of the voyage "BOB" (Baby on Board) Lee and "Roll Tide" Cowart were ready to get back to the relaxation of golf and hanging out. It was beautiful in the desert where flowers bloomed and bats swooped at night.
